The Elite drop a bomb on the Southern Conference by announcing 2017 Coach of the year Danielle Szpindor will play for the team in 2018. In addition to being a repeat Games athlete on team Hustle Hard, Danielle is one of the better female barbell cycling utility players to play in the NPGL and did so for the MIami Surge in 2015 and 2016.
This decision comes on the heels of acquiring two very strong assistant coaches in last year’s team captain Nick Penizotto and long time CrossFit coach and GRID 6 champion coach in Kelli Bryan.
Nick is owner of CrossFit 561, has other business ventures, and a growing family with a child due this month. With all this responsibility and limited time he didn’t feel his training would be up to his standards to contribute as a player, but felt he could still be a contributor to the team as a coach.
He proved to be a strong leader on the team last year and seems to be a great candidate to be able to pick up some of the on-GRID direction vacated when Danielle is on the floor performing.
Kelli is a coach at CrossFit Deerfield Beach and is also a strong leader and has some good experience in the strategy behind the sport. She was an integral part in Team CrossFit Deerfield Beach 3 AA GRID 6 championship.
Together the Elite are very well positioned from a leadership perspective, and now have arguably the best female player in the League.
If you want to play for the Elite they have their combine coming up on July 22nd at CrossFit Palm Beach. Sign up now!
