About Aiden Whitehead

Aiden Whitehead for the Carolina Flight, 2026 — Carolina Flight, 2026

I was a lifelong gymnast, now looking for a new competitive home after retiring this past year. I was a team captain for Georgia United for 4 seasons and ultimately earned The GymACT N2 Award in 2025. I essentially became a rings specialist as a gymnast, so the GRID league feels like a perfect match.

THE RINGS SPECIALIST WHO BUILT A PROGRAM: AIDEN WHITEHEAD TAKES HIS GYMNASTICS TO THE GRID

Aiden Whitehead didn’t just compete for Georgia United. He helped build the program. A four-season captain who specialized in floor, rings, vault, and parallel bars, Whitehead was there from the early days and stuck around long enough to watch the team grow into a legitimate force in GymACT collegiate gymnastics.

The recognition followed. In 2025, Whitehead earned the GymACT N2 Award, the organization’s highest individual honor for a senior gymnast. The award goes to the athlete who best represents the values of the sport: sportsmanship, leadership, community service, and performance. He was selected by coaches and athletes across the conference. He also carried a 3.55 GPA while pursuing a degree in Sports Management and Sports Media.

Rings was his best event, and it’s the one that translates most directly to Grid League. The upper body strength and body control required to hold an iron cross or muscle-up on competition rings is the same foundation that bodyweight specialists need on the Grid. Rope climbs, pegboards, gymnastics transitions. Whitehead has been training those movement patterns for years.

The Carolina Flight are getting a bodyweight specialist with a competitive gymnastics pedigree and the kind of leadership that held a college team together for four seasons. He retired from gymnastics last year looking for a new competitive home. He found it.
