Dan has been active in sports all his life, always seeming to have a barbell in his hands. Originally from Texas, currently living in North Carolina. As an Active-Duty Marine of 15 years, he is consistently pushed to excel physically and mentally. Dan found CrossFit in 2015 to prepare for a specific school he had to attend. Not only did it prepare him, but he crushed it and has been doing CrossFit ever since, receiving his CF L1 in 2022. He may not be the fastest but ask him to lift something heavy and he is your guy
As the #29 Strength Specialist for the Tampa Bay Brigade, Daniel Haberman has found his niche in professional sports. His role focuses on the heavy lifting elements during matches, where his compact but powerful 5’6″, 195-pound frame proves to be an advantage. While new to the Grid League, Haberman has quickly established himself as a reliable force on the Brigade roster, bringing a straightforward, workmanlike approach to his position.
Haberman’s path to professional athletics began in 2015 when he turned to CrossFit to prepare for an upcoming military school. What started as training quickly became a passion, leading him to earn his CrossFit Level 1 certification in 2022. He now coaches at Blackheart CrossFit in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where he competes in the Men’s Open category. His athletic philosophy is captured in his signature quote: “I may not be the fastest, but ask me to lift something heavy, and I’m your guy.”
With 15 years of active duty in the Marine Corps, Haberman’s military experience shapes every aspect of his athletic career. The mental toughness and discipline learned through his service translate directly to his Grid League performance. His military background has given him a unique edge in handling the physical demands of professional competition while maintaining the focus needed for high-pressure situations.
A Texas native now living in North Carolina, Haberman juggles the demands of family life with his military service and sports career. As a husband and father, he approaches his multiple roles with the same dedication he brings to the weight room. His ability to balance family responsibilities with his professional commitments showcases the time management skills developed through years of military service.
Haberman’s day-to-day life is a careful balance of his duties as an active-duty Marine, his role as a CrossFit coach, and his position as a professional Grid League athlete. At Blackheart CrossFit, he’s known for incorporating military discipline into his coaching style, helping others achieve their fitness goals. His presence in the Jacksonville community extends beyond the gym, where he serves as a role model for both athletes and service members.
Haberman’s approach to training combines functional strength work with the mental resilience developed during his military career. He believes in adapting workouts to build both physical capability and mental toughness. This balanced method has proven effective in his Grid League performance, where strength alone isn’t enough to succeed. His training style emphasizes the importance of consistency and hard work over flashy techniques, reflecting his blue-collar mentality toward athletics.
