CHAMPIONSHIP ROOTS: EMILY LOEFFLER RETURNS TO THE GRID SHE HELPED BUILD

Emily Loeffler won a Grid championship before most current players knew the sport existed. As a three-year starter and team captain for the Phoenix Rise in the original National Pro Grid League, she was part of the squad that captured the 2016 NPGL title. Now she’s back, and this time she co-owns the team.

Loeffler’s athletic career stretches back more than 15 years. She played Division II volleyball at West Chester University, where she also earned a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition. After college, she found CrossFit and eventually competed at the CrossFit Games twice on team rosters. The combination of volleyball court speed, functional fitness conditioning, and Grid-specific experience makes her one of the most well-rounded athletes on any roster this season.

Her three seasons with the Phoenix Rise gave her something most rookies spend a full year trying to learn: how Grid racing actually works. The pacing, the transitions, the split-second decisions about when to push and when to hold back. She’s been through all of it at the highest level the sport has seen.

Loeffler now lives in West Jefferson, North Carolina, where she represents the Carolina Flight as both co-owner and player. She’s not just filling a roster spot. She’s building a franchise from the inside out.
