Julia Kaczmarek

Firefighter with a Game Plan

Julia Kaczmarek fights fires in the off-season and attacks the Grid like she’s trained for it her whole life, because in some ways, she has. The Atlanta Wild’s new utility player comes from Royal City CrossFit in Fergus, Ontario, where she combined coaching and competition to build a fierce work ethic. Her 2025 CrossFit Open result (1734th worldwide, making the Individual Quarterfinal) proves she can hold her own against elite athletes. Before that came rugby and cheerleading, sports that taught her how to move her body, how to trust her teammates, and how to finish when it matters.

At 5’3″ and 160 lbs, Kaczmarek carries the kind of strength that doesn’t announce itself. She’s built for the movements the Grid demands, functional, relentless, efficient. The firefighter training isn’t a side gig; it’s the same mentality she brings to competition. Show up early. Stay late. Do what needs doing. Her Instagram (@juleskaczmarek) documents an athlete who understands that improvement happens in the details, whether that’s a pull-up progression, a new lift, or reading the Grid better.

Kaczmarek arrives in Atlanta as a new player with zero hype and everything to prove. That’s exactly the position where athletes thrive. The Wild are getting someone who’s already built a life around discipline and service. The Grid will get the same treatment.
