Kyle Bernier is a high-output strength-and-conditioning athlete and coach built for fast, high-pressure racing. A former pro-level competitor, Kyle brings explosive power, clean movement, and relentless pace, plus the composure to execute when the lights are on. Off the Grid, he’s a fitness creator and coach helping everyday athletes build real strength with simple tools and consistent habits.
Kyle Bernier started running hurdles in middle school. By high school he was competing in the 110 highs and 300-meter hurdles alongside football. College recruiters brought him in as a decathlete, where he had to pick up pole vault, javelin, and shot put on top of everything he already knew. Two years of decathlon training alongside two years of college football built the kind of all-around athletic engine that’s hard to find.
After college, Bernier moved to Charlotte and walked into a CrossFit gym. The similarities to decathlon training were obvious immediately: be strong, be fast, be powerful, and do it all back to back with no breaks. He went all in, connected with a coach, and started chasing the CrossFit Games at the professional level.
These days Bernier runs Strain Forward Fitness, an online coaching business helping men build real strength with consistent programming. He also works with UCS Spirit and oversees the Charlotte Street Vault, an annual community event. But the competitor in him hasn’t gone anywhere.
The Carolina Flight are getting a utility player who has spent his entire athletic life doing multiple things at a high level. Decathletes don’t specialize. Neither do Grid racers.
