Sammy Bellot’s path to becoming a Grid League athlete began like many others, in a local CrossFit gym just trying to get in better shape. Today, he stands as a key Utility Player for The Sharks, wearing #4 and known to fans as “Queen Jenna’s Guardian.”
At 5’8″ and 185 pounds, Bellot brings a solid athletic frame to the emerging sport of Grid League, which blends elements of strength training, gymnastics, and high-intensity fitness competition. His consistent appearances throughout the 2023 season, including major competitions like the July Inter-Conference Play, September North-Conference Play, and November Playoffs, have established him as a reliable force for The Sharks.
What started as casual CrossFit workouts sparked something deeper in Bellot. “Started CrossFit recreationally to get into shape, now I’m in love,” he says, describing the passion that drove him from recreational athlete to Grid League competitor. This progression mirrors many Grid League athletes who discover their competitive drive through functional fitness training.
Bellot hasn’t kept his fitness knowledge to himself. As a CrossFit coach, he splits his time between training others and competing at a high level. This dual role as coach and athlete gives him unique insight into the sport and allows him to help others discover their own potential. “Love coaching and competing,” he says, highlighting how these two aspects of his life complement each other.
The 2023 season proved Bellot’s value to The Sharks, as he competed in multiple key matches and helped push the team into playoff contention. His consistent performance throughout the year showed why Utility Players are so important in Grid League, they bring versatility and reliability to their teams.
As Grid League continues to grow, athletes like Bellot help shape its future. His background in CrossFit, commitment to coaching, and competitive success create a blueprint for others looking to enter the sport. With a solid 2023 season behind him, Bellot appears ready to continue making his mark on this exciting new sport.
