Gym owner with a basketball foundation. Explosive power, relentless engine, and game-speed awareness built for Grid competition.
Sigbert Guy won a city championship with a basketball in his hands at East New York Transit Tech in 2008. Twelve years later, he deadlifted a 425-pound squat in a CrossFit box and found his calling in the United Grid League. The New York Wolves utility player embodies the rare athlete who never abandoned either pursuit, and now merges both into a position designed for dual-sport versatility.
His basketball resume reads like a path most kids take: talented guard at a Brooklyn high school, then four years at Sage Colleges in upstate New York. But where most athletes branch toward one lane, Guy pivoted. He discovered CrossFit at Bridge & Tunnel in Queens, competing as an Intermediate Men’s Team NWA athlete at TYR Wodapalooza. The 2024 CrossFit Open saw him place 12,303rd worldwide, solid middle-tier competition. What matters more: the 6’0″, 225-pound frame now loaded with explosive power marks him as a player built for Grid’s collision demands.
Today, Guy heads coaching operations at CrossFit Glendale while preparing for his New York Wolves debut. He describes himself as a gym owner with a basketball foundation, which understates the hybrid skill set. His front squat strength, a movement that translates directly to base, power output, and injury resilience, separates him from one-dimensional Grid prospects. Utility players in the Grid succeed by doing multiple things well. Guy has spent fifteen years proving he can.
