If you’re interested in playing on the Lions with Amber, check out their Online Combine – click the links below for more information.
Amber Bost was signed to the Fort Lauderdale Lions last year but had to sit out most of the Season due to a calf injury, so she was chomping at the bit to play more this year. She attended the Combine and proved to be a valuable asset to the Team and was signed again for the 2018 Season. Read more about Amber:
FGL: Where are you from? What brought you to Fort Lauderdale?
I am originally from St. Pete, Fl. I joined the Army in 2003 and hopped around a little till I was stationed here in Sunrise, FL in 2012. I had some family in the area so I was grateful for the opportunity to make this a new home.
FGL: What is your athletic background?
I probably have the least amount of an athletic background in the whole of GRID. I grew up as the marching band geek (much love!!) and did Winter guard in the off season. After that, the Army was the most physical training I every really did but this was a huge up and down for me physically. Running eventually became a huge part of my life prior to CrossFit and my friend wanted to try an OCR race. For this, she suggested we do CrossFit to get ready for it. I dove right in and here I am almost 4 years later. I still run a handful of half marathons a years, but CrossFit has become a main training focus.
FGL: What is your full time job or main gig?
I am currently a full time student at Keiser University where I am studying for my 2nd Bachelors Degree in Sports Medicine and Fitness Technology. In the evenings, you can find me coaching at CrossFit 1Pulse or writing accessory programming for some of my athletes.
FGL: What are your favorite movements?
Gymnastically, I am in love with pistols! Barbell wise, it’s cleans all day long. Though I am finding a new found love for the bar muscle up now that I am getting more proficient at them!
FGL: What are you most excited about to play for the Lions?
Last season, I tore my calf (on my birthday no less) and was on reserve till the exhibition match. I’ve taken the last year and really tried to nail down training and prepare to rock this season the best I can and redeem myself. I had a lot of fun last year with the team and can’t wait to see what this season brings with more teams in the conferences.
