Emiliana Guerra – The Youngest BADASS in Grid League

April 28, 2024

For Venezuelan CrossFit coach Emiliana Guerra, opening her own gym in Miami has been a long and challenging journey. With a background in sports, including 12 years of gymnastics, Guerra always envisioned creating a space where fitness and community come together. Today, that dream is a reality with Tropical Fitness.

The road to success was not easy. Guerra’s journey began in Venezuela, where political instability and financial challenges forced her and her family to make an unexpected decision. What was initially intended to be a short trip to the U.S. for a competition became something much more significant. Faced with the difficulties of life in Venezuela, the family decided to stay in the U.S. permanently.

Adapting to life in a new country presented many challenges, including language barriers. Guerra, who spoke little English upon arrival, faced difficulties in her early CrossFit competitions, where miscommunication with judges often led to confusion during events. Despite these setbacks, Guerra learned English while coaching CrossFit, improving her skills and eventually finding her place in the fitness community.

Her passion for fitness also led Guerra to the Grid League, where she initially encountered similar language difficulties. In the early days, most of the coaches and teammates spoke only English, making it hard for her to fully engage. Over time, with more Spanish-speaking teammates joining, the dynamics shifted, and communication became smoother, allowing Guerra to thrive in the league.

Opening Tropical Fitness was a dream Guerra had been working toward for years. Beyond language and cultural barriers, she also navigated the challenges of managing business permits, marketing, and daily operations. Despite the obstacles, Guerra successfully built a vibrant community around her gym. Her dedication to fostering a positive and supportive environment for her members has become a defining feature of Tropical Fitness.

The gym is not just a business for Guerra; it is a place where she helps others reach their full potential, both physically and mentally. Her passion for coaching shines through in her desire to see people grow and improve. It is this commitment to helping others that has earned her a strong reputation within the fitness community.

Now that her dream has come to fruition, Guerra looks forward to the continued growth of Tropical Fitness and the impact it will have on the local community. Visitors to Miami are encouraged to stop by the gym and experience the welcoming environment she has worked so hard to create.

Emiliana Guerra’s journey from Venezuela to Miami is a testament to resilience, passion, and dedication. Tropical Fitness stands as a reflection of her vision and a beacon for those who share her love for fitness and community.
