Grid League 2026 – Lions vs Sharks: Fort Lauderdale Ends a Two-Year Streak, 19-18

The Fort Lauderdale Lions beat the Southwest Florida Sharks 19-18 at American Dream in New Jersey and ended a Sharks regular season winning streak that had run for more than two years.

It came down to the Sprint Relay, the closing race. Three challenge flags went down on it, one from each side and one from a referee. Every ruling stood, and the point stayed with Fort Lauderdale.

Coach and owner Melissa Capurro had called the match a rematch of the 2025 championship before the first race was run. “This one’s personal,” she said.

Fort Lauderdale finished the regular season 2-2 and seeded second in the East on Season Rank Total. The Lions play a conference semifinal at the championship on October 3 and 4 in Lakeland.
