Gainesville Wild vs. Orlando Aces – Matchup Preview
The last time the Wild and Aces met was in 2019 before the Wild rebranded from the Jacksonville Steel when the Aces took that match with a 13 point differential. With the Wild rebrand came a totally different team than when the Aces saw them last.
Now, with the Wild making it to the Championships in 2020, and taking their first match of the 2021 Season, the Aces will be prepared for this new, capable team.
The Aces are bringing back star starters like head coach and strength specialist Taylar Stallings, top utility player Alex Velez, and bodyweight specialist Megan Medeiros who travels from Delaware for every match. Darryl McNeil is named the WildCard after a heroic performance in the Sprint Relay 9’9″ burpees element at the Season opener.
The Wild are calling on their strong females Laura Braun, Julie Radar and Laura Callicut plus their star males like strength specialist Blake Kidder and top utility player RJ Hibbard. Bodyweight couple Carissa Macay and Austin Siegle are both named as alternates with Wildcard Josh Rundall.
The Wild may have won their Season opener but it wasn’t an easy win, with some mistakes that almost cost them the match. The Aces came within seconds of winning their first match against the Palms. Both teams are very physically strong and are used to winning the Ladder, so it will be interesting to watch who wins that race in particular as well as the match.
