Lions and Sharks both signed up in year one and actually played in the 2017 ‘Redemption match’ after having win-less first seasons. The Sharks won that match in 2017, but the Lions have since won the Championship twice including the most recent As 1 Tournament in December.

Although the Sharks did not make it to day 2 in the As 1 Tournament, they beat the strong Miami Freaks in the sprint relay to cause the first GRIDlock in FGL history.

The Lions have the majority of their team returning from the As 1 Tournament including 2018 MVP Eric Cardona, plus Laura Sanchez, one of the strongest Utility players in the League, and coach-turned player Jaime Gold is stepping onto the GRID again after debuting last year.

The Sharks are missing some long time veterans like Leila Elaty, but have a good core group of players returning like Rachel Meola, Alexis Dempsey, Fransisco Gomez and Wildcard Quentin Ambrosio. Head Coach Nick Habich will also be playing in the match.
