The Florida Grid League hires Miguel Katryniok as Head Referee

Miguel

The foundation of fair competition is that everyone that competes be held to the same standard as much as humanly possible. Consistent and fair competition is of the utmost importance to us at the Florida Grid League. It is because of this, we are thrilled to announce Miguel as our head referee to establish a culture of clear, decisive, and accurate refereeing within our sport.

Miguel comes from a background of refereeing at the professional level with the National Pro Grid League and looks to bring the same professional approach to the Florida Grid League.

We asked Miguel a few questions to help demonstrate how he is approaching this position:

  1. How would you describe your vision for Florida Grid League refereeing?

“I believe this is a great opportunity to stay involved with the sport of GRID and help share it with my fitness community. I love to help create a great competitive experience through a fair playing field, a professional and structured approach, and a legitimate sport format. I want every team to feel confident they have a fair shot when they step onto the GRID. We are human, we will not be perfect, but it is a huge focus of mine to strive for perfection as close as I can get it.”

  1. How will your experience in the NPGL benefit the FGL?

“The speed and emotion of GRID is intense. Adrenaline is flowing and races come down to seconds. My experience with this at the professional level has prepared me perfectly to pass that knowledge on to my staff and help put everyone the best position to make the right call.”

  1. What are your favorite aspects of being a Ref for GRID?

“I love this sport and I love having an impact on it. The speed and excitement is contagious and as a referee you feel it just as much as the athletes. It’s great to be a part of that action and help make sure the best team wins.”

Miguel will be working with the rest of the management team to create training systems and protocol for long term success of the Florida Grid League referee staff. Our goal is to retain the best and brightest Referees for not just the near term events, but the future of the FGL in coming years.

The upcoming GRID 6 event is a great opportunity to learn more about the sport and see if a future as an FGL, or even NPGL, ref is a good opportunity for you. If there is interest in being involved please email us at info@thefgl.com/old.
